GreenPlex
About GreenPlex

Creating a new innovation culture for the USA.

GreenPlex is a partnership between indoor agriculture, local communities and data-center technology stakeholders — the fusion of three centers of excellence not typically seen side by side. The data center's waste heat warms the greenhouse. The greenhouse gives the data center something it increasingly cannot buy: a welcome in the community. The research center improves the farm, sets standards for a young industry, uses the data center's own computing to do it, and teaches the next generation of workers.

Every edge of the triangle carries value in both directions — heat for goodwill, compute for data, research for yield. That is industrial symbiosis, and the whole is worth more than the parts. GreenOS — a software platform already proven on a working commercial farm — runs the farm, and its siblings EnclaveOS and StackOS extend the same model to the research & learning center and the data center, binding the campus together.

GreenBridge — from one campus to a network

Fig. 01 — the consortium

GreenPlex is a project to unite industry-leading programs for Indoor-Ag, community learning/reskilling, and Green data center service. As such, GreenPlex focuses on one campus at a time — one farm + one community research center + one integrated data center. In contrast, the GreenBridge initiative connects farms and their related facility and automation resources in a network that spans many farms and many GreenPlex instances.

GreenBridge network: this GreenPlex campus as the hub of regional CEA farms and retail buyers

GreenBridge is a CEA industry consortium supported by GreenPlex — a bridge from a single campus to the regional network that makes indoor agriculture dependable at scale, and that puts local growers and local buyers on the same board.

GreenBridge unites community-oriented automated farm centers with:

  • Supply / demand smoothing
  • Data sharing & benchmarking
  • Pooled purchasing
  • Market analytics & forecasting
  • Digital twins
  • University research
  • Crisis management
  • Co-marketing

From Citizens (a data center RFP)For Citizens (a green campus)

Our mission is to give communities a fair deal when data centers come to town and become a permanent aspect of the local landscape.

GreenPlex is a green living, playing, working campus built to answer the needs of the Citizens, a campus the community specifies. Organizationally, GreenPlex is comprised of formal partnerships between universities, communities, facilities developers, virtual energy providers, collaboration engineers and AI experts.

The question isn’t whether communities should say yes or no to data centers. The question is why wait for data center developers to tell us what we’re getting.
