EDGE 01 · FARM → COMMUNITY
Exchange: training · projects · data · food · revenue

The farm feeds the region. The region grows the farm.

Greenswell is a fully operational, controlled-environment (indoor) farm near Richmond, Va. We produce thousands of pounds of high-quality lettuce and greens every month — and our production data anchors every number in the GreenOS operating analytics system. This is not a concept in search of a farm: it's a proven, operating production facility, with knowledge, skills, data and projects that the community can benefit from, starting with K-12 field trips all the way to university research and business partnerships that train the local workforce (and feed the population).

Every bay is instrumented. Climate, nutrient and yield data flows into GreenOS, where the digital twin turns it into a plan for the next cycle — and into the benchmarks the research center publishes.

Grown Indoors — safety certified by GreenBridge.org
Food safety

Grown indoors, so purity is engineered — not hoped for.

A strictly controlled indoor environment removes the field-borne risks that drive recalls. The Grown Indoors mark, certified through the GreenBridge consortium, gives buyers a standard to point at — and gives a young industry the benchmark it has been missing.

Key community + farm aspects

Farm ↔ community

Living laboratory

Continuous R&D on a working farm — trials that change next month’s crop plan, not next decade’s paper.

Training & workforce

A paid, hands-on route into controlled-environment agriculture, taught on the farm floor and certified with the research center.

Food, close to home

Year-round local greens for regional retail and foodservice — and a farm the town can walk into.

From Citizens (a data center RFP)For Citizens (a green campus)

Our mission is to give communities a fair deal when data centers come to town and become a permanent aspect of the local landscape.

GreenPlex is a green living, playing, working campus built to answer the needs of the Citizens, a campus the community specifies. Organizationally, GreenPlex is comprised of formal partnerships between universities, communities, facilities developers, virtual energy providers, collaboration engineers and AI experts.

The question isn’t whether communities should say yes or no to data centers. The question is why wait for data center developers to tell us what we’re getting.
